Interrelationship between total volatile organic compounds emissions,structure and properties of natural rubber/polycaprolactone bio-blends cross-linked with peroxides

Natural rubber/polycaprolactone (NR/PCL) bio-based blends with different organic peroxides were prepared using an internal batch mixer and subsequently cross-linked at 170 °C. Two types of commonly used organic peroxides, dicumyl peroxide and di(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene peroxide, were applied as free-radical initiator. Cross-linking efficiency of NR/PCL blends were investigated using oscillating disc rheometer measurements, followed by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis and tensile testing. Total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) emissions were determined using headspace analysis integrated with gas chromatography with flame ionization detector. Determined TVOCs emissions varying in range 21.6–52.1 μg/g and generally value of this parameter decreased with increasing content of PCL phase in studied blends or with application of more efficient di(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene peroxide as cross-linking agent. It was found that increasing of TVOCs parameter indicated deterioration of mechanical properties of NR/PCL blends, which corresponded with the changes in chemical structure and thermal properties of cross-linked NR/PCL. This confirms that evaluation of TVOCs parameter is interesting alternative for “conventional methods” to characterization of the studied bio-based blends.

Computational analysis for the determination of deleterious nsSNPs in human MTHFD1 gene

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most common genetic polymorphisms and play a major role in many inherited diseases. Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 1 (MTHFD1) is one of the enzymes involved in folate metabolism. In the present study, the functional and structural consequences of nsSNPs of human MTHFD1 gene was analyzed using various computational tools like SIFT, PolyPhen2, PANTHER, PROVEAN, SNAP2, nsSNPAnalyzer, PhD-SNP, SNPs&GO, I-Mutant, MuPro, ConSurf, InterPro, NCBI Conserved Domain Search tool, ModPred, SPARKS-X, RAMPAGE, FT Site and PyMol. Out of 327 nsSNPs form human MTHFD1 gene, total 45 SNPs were predicted as functionally most significant SNPs, among which 17 were highly conserved and functional, 17 were highly conserved and structural residues. Among 45 most significant SNPs, 15 were predicted to be involved in post translational modifications. The p.Gly165Arg may interfere in homodimer interface formation. The p.Asn439Lys and p.Asp445Asn may interfere in binding interactions of MTHFD1 protein with cesium cation and potassium. The two SNPs (p.Asp562Gly and p.Gly637Cys) might interfere in interactions of MTHFD1 with ligand.     

Subgroups of totally imprimitive permutation groups

In this work the study of subgroups of totally imprimitive permutation groups is continued. Some sufficient conditions for the existence of minimal non-FC-subgroups are given. These results depend mainly on the properties of self-normalizing subgroups, which are closed in the topology of point-wise convergence. Finally, new properties of a totally imprimitive permutation p-group satisfying the cyclic-block property are given which might be a suitable example to look for minimal non-FC-subgroups.     

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for nonlocal systems involving fractional Laplacian with non-differentiable terms

In this paper, we devote to the study of the existence and multiplicity of solutions of nonlocal systems involving fractional Laplacian with non-differentiable terms using some extended critical point theorems for locally Lipschitz function on product spaces.     

Decomposability index of tournaments

Given a tournament $T$, a module of $T$ is a subset $X$ of $V\left(T\right)$ such that for $x,y\in X$ and $v\in V\left(T\right)?X$, $(x,v)\in A\left(T\right)$ if and only if $(y,v)\in A\left(T\right)$. The trivial modules of $T$ are $?$, $\left\{u\right\}$ $(u\in V\left(T\right))$ and $V\left(T\right)$. The tournament $T$ is indecomposable if all its modules are trivial; otherwise it is decomposable. The decomposability index of $T$, denoted by $\delta \left(T\right)$, is the smallest number of arcs of $T$ that must be reversed to make $T$ indecomposable. For $n\ge 5$, let $\delta \left(n\right)$ be the maximum of $\delta \left(T\right)$ over the tournaments $T$ with $n$ vertices. We prove that $?\frac{n+1}{4}?\le \delta \left(n\right)\le ?\frac{n?1}{3}?$ and that the lower bound is reached by the transitive tournaments.     

Candidates for nonzero Betti numbers of monomial ideals

Let I be a monomial ideal in the polynomial ring S generated by elements of degree at most d. In this paper, it is shown that, if the i-th syzygy of I has no elements of degrees j,…,j+(d?1) (where j≥i+d), then (i+1)-th syzygy of I does not have any element of degree j+d. Then we give several applications of this result, including an alternative proof for Green–Lazarsfeld index of the edge ideals of graphs as well as an alternative proof for Fröberg’s theorem on classification of square-free monomial ideals generated in degree 2 with linear resolution. Among all, we deduce a partial result on subadditivity of the syzygies for monomial ideals.     

Modified classification of non-self-adjoint second-order difference equations

This paper is concerned with the classification of non-self-adjoint second-order difference equations. The relationship between the number of summable solutions of non-self-adjoint difference equations and that of the discrete linear Hamiltonian system is discussed. A classification for non-self-adjoint second-order difference equations is established, which is independent of the choice of the rotated half plane and the fixed point.     

New results for the Liebau phenomenon via fixed point index

We prove new results regarding the existence of positive solutions for a nonlinear periodic boundary value problem related to the Liebau phenomenon. As a consequence we obtain new sufficient conditions for the existence of a pump in a simple model. Our methodology relies on the use of classical fixed point index. Some examples are provided to illustrate our theory. We improve and complement previous results in the literature.
